Disclaimers

While we pay close attention to the tolls displayed, there may be times when ETC tolls etc., are not shown correctly due to systems failures, or due to the fact that you are changing between routes that use different charge systems or between routes managed by NEXCO and routes managed by other companies (including regional public road corporations). Please pay the tolls displayed at the toll booth. Note that we will not respond to any request to refund toll charges etc., if there is a difference in the charges displayed on the "Route Search" site and the charges displayed at the toll booth; this is based on the assumption that the customer agrees to this clause when using the said site.

Display of ETC tolls etc.

When using ETC, the applicable toll is automatically decided and calculated for the route chosen by the customer at the toll charge currently valid as of the date and time of either the departure or arrival, as set under the search conditions. In addition, the "estimated time added for traffic congestion" is calculated based on historical data for traffic concentrations and traffic congestion on roads managed by NEXCO East, NEXCO Central and NEXCO West.(These traffic congestion forecasts do not include any congestion caused by construction works, accidents or traffic restrictions etc.)Note that the ETC charges we show may not apply if the time the customer actually passes through the toll booth differs from the automatically-calculated time due to the actual speed traveled by the customer, or traffic congestion etc.

★Please understand that ultimately the automatically-calculated “ETC tolls” are meant as a guide only. Customers will only receive a discount on tolls if the ETC discount conditions apply at the actual time they pass through the toll booth. Note that the calculations used for discounts on the "Route Search" site may not correspond to the discounts implemented on roads etc., managed by regional public road corporations. Please be aware of this in advance.

Toll charge searches for dates in the past or in the future

If you put in a search for a date in the past, or the future, on the "Route Search" site and in the meantime there is change in toll rates with those for the specified search date, then a charge (the currently valid toll charge) may be displayed that differs from the toll charge for the specified date. In addition we may restrict date settings to avoid showing different toll rates from those that were valid at the time after a new expressway is opened, or a change in the toll rate discount system takes place. Please contact NEXCO West Japan's customer center if you have any questions regarding past toll charges.

Tolls for multiple routes and circular routes (loops)

When using the expressway fee and route search website, the route will not be displayed if the "travel distance is more than twice as big as that of the shortest route" or in the case of loop driving. The expressway fee is charged according to the actual mileage. However, if there are multiple routes between the entrance IC and the exit IC, if the "distance travelled is no more than twice as big as that of the shortest route," the fee for the shortest route will be charged. If the "distance travelled is more than twice as big as that of the shortest route" or in the case of loop driving, the fee will be calculated according to the actual mileage. Therefore, if you run laps, please use the general lane at the exit and inform a staff member in charge.

Cases where a significant detour may be displayed

The standard structure of an expressway interchange (IC) allows you to travel in four directions - on/off the main city-bound carriageway and on/off the carriage way going the opposite way, but there are some IC where the directions of travel are limited. Please be aware that if you conduct a search specifying one of these IC as your departure or arrival IC, the search will show a route that you can actually travel (which may involve a significant detour).

Unsupported ETC discount rates

There may be some cases when we are unable to display discount rates offered under community trials run by local cooperative councils in various regions.

Distances

In principle, we state business extensions based on business permits received from the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

Time required

The time required is generally calculated on the basis of statutory speed limits, which are 60-120 km per hour for expressways - depending on the section, and 40-60 km per hour for urban expressways and other toll roads. These are theoretical values that do not include time delays due to traffic congestion etc.; and actual times may not be exactly the same as those displayed. Also, any additional time used in the traffic congestion forecasts refers the increase in travel time on the routes managed by the three NEXCO companies. We take the traffic congestion forecasts issued by the Honshu-Shikoku Bridge Expressway Company Limited into account for highly congested periods during Golden Week, Obon, and New Year. Please note, however, that our calculations include neither traffic congestion forecasts for routes managed by other companies, nor additional time required due to construction works, accidents or speed restrictions. Please follow local speed restrictions while actually driving and take enough breaks to drive safely.
